Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology

Welcome to the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) web page on Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology (CPO). The CPO subcertification process will consist of passing a Written Qualifying Exam (WQE) and Oral Certifying Exam (OCE). All ABOHNS diplomates in good standing** will be eligible to take the CPO WQE. However, only those that expect to attain all eligibility requirements for the OCE through the Training or Practice Pathway should take the WQE. Diplomates going through the Practice Pathway have until 2028 to become subcertified in CPO. Please check back periodically for updates on this new subspecialty certification.   • **Current fellows in ACGME-accredited training programs can apply for the CPO WQE that follows completion of training - taking the exam is contingent on becoming board certified in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery prior to the CPO WQE administration date.

  • Applications Due: February 1, 2021
  • Exam Date: July 29, 2021
  • Exam Fees: $2,000 WQE/$2,850 OCE
  • Exam Site: WQE at Pearson Vue testing centers
