Written & Oral Certifying Examinations Application Requirements Hotel Information Written Exam Guidelines Oral Exam Guidelines   ABOto Examinee Video In this video, you will learn about the development, administration process, and scoring methodology for the exam. In addition, the ABOto has provided tips for success, as well as what to avoid during the examination process. Once again, this is a requirement from the American Board of Otolaryngology for all Oral Exam Candidates. Candidate Video Oral Certifying Exam Day Information March 31 or April 1, 2012 Report to the Grand Ballroom at the Westin O'Hare Hotel at your designated time (per your approval memo) for registration and orientation. This is the only registration session for this exam. A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, state ID card) is required for registration. You are NOT permitted to bring personal items (briefcases, backpacks, purses, books, PDAs, copying devices, cell phones, beepers, pens, and pencils) in the testing area. Luggage must be checked at the bell stand in the hotel lobby. Failure to report on time may disqualify you from the examination. Please dress professionally (jacket and tie for men; business attire for women). To avoid any bias we ask that you not wear your military uniform. Please have breakfast or lunch prior to the exam. Only beverages will be available at registration. Hotel Information A block of rooms has been reserved for candidates at a special rate of $169 (plus tax) per night, single or double. This rate represents a discount over standard rates. Please reserve your room early as they fill up quickly. Guests can access the site to book, modify, or cancel a reservation until March 4, 2012. You should allow at least 30 minutes travel time during non-peak hours, and at least 45 minutes during peak rush hours. If the shuttle does not arrive, please call the hotel at the above number.   Written Qualifying Exam Exam Fees Written Exam Fee: $3,580 - The exam fee is payable in two payments and is due as noted below: $1,000 is due on May 1 $2,580 is due on August 9 The written exam fee covers one written exam and one oral exam.
